Entries are limited to eligible amateur players (children 12 years and older and adults) who are past Champions or either reside, attend school, work or are members of a golf club in Madison County, Tennessee and are not currently golf professionals or have entered a golf tournament as a professional unless amateur status has been reinstated in accordance with the USGA Rules. Entry is subject to rejection at anytime (including during the Championship) by the Championship Committee. The reason for rejection may include unbecoming conduct.
All players must list their age and date of birth on the Championship entry forms. Age for division status will be established as of Entry Deadline. Players who are less than 18 years old must have a parent/guardian submit and sign the appropriate Championship Entry Form.
It is the sole responsibility of every player to make sure the entry form and entry fee is received no later than the entry deadline at Jackson Country Club, 31 Country Club Lane, Jackson, Tennessee 38305, telephone # 668-0688/ facsimile # 668-4258 and will be automatically rejected if received after that time and date. Late entries will be rejected. The risk of delay or transmission is solely upon each player.
Green fees and cart fees are included in the entry fee. Children less than 16 years old will have to either walk or may use a cart if accompanied by a parent for which there will be an additional cart fee.
: The USGA rules of golf as supplemented by local rules will apply. Decisions of the Championship Committee will be final. Electronic Measuring Devices (no slope) will be allowed for use in the Championship.
(a) Players over the age of 12 years old will participate in a 18 hole stroke play qualifying competition on Friday at Jackson National, 2:00 pm shotgun start. Age and gender divisions will be determined by Championship Committee and trophies will be awarded to division champions. School age boys and girls ladies will also compete for the Tommy Talkington Cup in the Middle School, High School and College levels.
(b) Any player 12 years and older and possessing an USGA handicap of 10 or less may declare to qualify for the match play portion of the Championship. Such players must declare for such status on the Championship Entry Form and must play from the Championship Tees as designated by the Championship Committee regardless of the player’s age or gender. Players will also be eligible for their age divisions as well. After completion of the 18 hole stroke play, the low sixteen (16) players will qualify for the Match Play Tournament to be conducted as follows: (a) the rounds of 16 and 8 shall be on Saturday at Woodland Hills beginning at 8:00 am and after lunch; (b) the final four (4) will go to the Jackson Country Club on Sunday for the semi-final and final rounds at 8:00 and 12:00 noon, to determine the Champion Golfer of Jackson/Madison County and recipient of the Albert A. Stone, Jr. Cup.
(c) Ties for the final qualifying position(s) in Match Play will be determined by on-course playoffs. Ties in the seeded sixteen (16) positions shall be broken by coin flip.
(d) Senior Golfers, defined as being 60 years and older, will compete for the Senior Stone Cup. If sufficient participation, the top eight (8) Senior Qualifiers will compete in Match Play at Woodland Hills on Saturday, playing morning and afternoon matches with the Finals at the Jackson Country Club on Sunday, at 8:15 am. Ties for qualifying will broken as above. (If there is not sufficient participation, only four (4) Seniors will qualify for the Match Play in the Senior Stone Cup and Match Play rounds shall be adjusted accordingly.)
(e) Lady Golfers, will be able to compete for the Beverly Pearce Cup. The top four (4) Lady Qualifiers from the qualifying round at Jackson National on Friday (2:00 pm shotgun start) will compete in Match Play at Woodland Hills on Saturday with the Finals on Sunday at 8:30 am at the Jackson Country Club. Ties broken as above. School age ladies will also compete for the Tommy Talkington Cup in the Middle School, High School and College levels. Middle School ladies will compete from different tees and will not be eligible for the Pearce Cup unless they play from the same tees as the other lady qualifiers.
(f) The male medalist in qualifying for the Stone Cup will be awarded the Danny Green Medal.
Use of golf carts shall be in accordance with local rules. Green fees and cart fees are included in the entry fee for players 16 years and older. Players under 16 years of age must walk. Caddies are only permitted for Players 16 years and older and must walk for Qualifying rounds. Rules for Caddies for Match Play will be announced before Match Play rounds. Caddies must be declared before the round. Parents/Spectators may rent carts, if available.
